About Caboodle Cartridge

Caboodle Cartridge, part of a California-based franchise company, opened in Centreville on July 26, 2006. Caboodle Cartridge sells certified remanufactured ink and toner cartridges for printers, copiers and fax machines. Partners Courtney Carroll and Doug Estelow decided to open a Caboodle Cartridge store after reading an article in the Wall Street Journal about the best new franchises.

Not to be confused with "refilled" or "refillable" cartridges, Caboodle products go through a patented, state-of-the-art process at a remanufacturing plant, where they are meticulously cleaned, dried and inspected. Defective parts are replaced and the cartridges are filled with top-quality ink or toner.

"We keep an extensive inventory of remanufactured ink and toner cartridges for most brands of fax machines, copiers and printers," says Courtney. "Our customers range from individuals with a single home computer to large businesses with many different machines. Our cartridges are up to 65% less than Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) cartridges partly because of industry markups by some OEM's and partly because Caboodle Cartridge does all of our remanufacturing on a large scale."

The high print quality of Caboodle cartridges is guaranteed because of the rigorous remanufacturing and inspecting process used at the plant and also because the ink that is used to fill the cartridges is obtained only from top-quality, certified suppliers.

"Caboodle cartridges are good for the environment," Courtney says, "The re-manufacturing process keeps the product out of landfills, where the hard plastic cartridge casing takes hundreds of years to decompose. Furthermore, the production of new printer cartridges requires millions of gallons of oil each year."

Courtney and Doug met through Delta Sigma Pi, a co-ed business fraternity,"...so we're "brothers," Courtney laughs, "He was at Philadelphia University and I was his chapter advisor." Courtney, a native of the Eastern Shore, graduated in May 2000 from Shepherd College in West Virginia with a degree in hotel/motel & restaurant management. Doug graduated from Philadelphia University, PA in December 2002, with a degree in business management. The two began dating the summer of 2003 and were married November 4, 2006.

The Centreville store, located at 303 E. Water Street, is the first Caboodle Cartridge franchise to open in Maryland.
